 Recent research suggests that the weight or volume of food serves as a primary signal to the brain to stop eating.  The easiest approach to weighing less is to reduce the concentration of calories in food portions (energy density) but retain the volume.  In other words, EAT MORE (weight and volume) foods that have more water, fiber, air and are low in fat (meal replacement shakes, fruits, vegetables, soups).
